The bursting strength of a material is a major aspect that defines its quality. The bursting force is the force that is exerted on a material from edges. Most of the failures of materials happen due to this force hence the bursting strength force is essential to measure for best quality assurance of the products. The bursting strength is also a major aspect of quality of the materials that are used in packaging industries such as paper, fabrics, plastic sheets, etc. For best evaluation of the bursting strength of a material, the bursting strength tester is used.

Moisture meters are used to measure the percentage of moisture in a corrugated box. This information can be used to determine if the material is ready for use, unexpectedly wet or dry, or otherwise in need of further inspection. Paper products are very sensitive to their moisture content. Physical properties are strongly affected by moisture content. High moisture content in a box effect the brusting strength & compression strength of box. so moisture is been checked in every step of before & after formation of a box.

Compressive strength is the capacity of a material or structure to withstand loads tending to reduce size. It can be measured by plotting applied force against deformation in a testing machine. Some materials fracture at their compressive strength limit; others deform irreversibly, so a given amount of deformation may be considered as the limit for compressive load. Compressive strength is a key value for design of structures, The compression machine provide us the idea how much pay load can be taken by the box and what is its upper limit.

The tester has been used to determine the compression strength of a paper , which help a manufacturer to know the know the real compression strength before the paper has been converted into a box.

The Ford viscosity cup is a simple gravity device that permits the timed flow of a known volume of liquid passing through an orifice located at the bottom. It has been used in packaging industry to know the glue viscosity. Which play an important role in box compression strength, and prevent the box from delaminating.

COBB Tester is used for determining the water absorption of paper. The method describes a procedure for determining the quantity of water absorbed by paper, paperboard, and corrugated fiberboard in a specified time under standardized condition.
